THE MYSTERIES OF GOD Series Introduction

THE MYSTERIES OF GOD Series Introduction

Hidden in the Ages. Revealed in Christ. Entrusted to His People.

We often speak about the mysteries of God as though they are secrets still waiting to be discovered.

But what if the greater challenge is not discovering something new, but understanding and walking in what God has already revealed?

Paul wrote:

"Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." — 1 Corinthians 4:1 (NKJV)

Think about that.

We have been entrusted with something extraordinary.

The mystery of Christ. The Kingdom of God. His presence dwelling within His people. The formation of one Body. And God's eternal purposes, which are still unfolding.

These are not simply subjects for theological debate. They concern how we live, how we gather and how we respond to the Holy Spirit.

Over the coming days, I want us to explore seven aspects of the mysteries of God together.

But I don't want this to be another series where I write and everyone else simply reads.

I would love us to open the Scriptures together, ask questions, share our understanding and challenge one another to go deeper in Christ.

Not every question will have an easy answer. And we may discover that some of our long-held assumptions need examining.

That is part of growing together.

So here is our first question:

Are we hungry to discover more about God, or are we prepared to be changed by what He has already revealed?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

We are living in a world where the battles we see are not always the battles we are fighting

I wonder how many of us are fighting battles in the flesh without recognising what is happening in the spirit?

Paul warned us in Ephesians 6:12 that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers and spiritual forces of darkness.
I believe we need to take that warning far more seriously.
We live in a physical world, but we are also spiritual beings. Our words, decisions, compromises and obedience matter. What we do in the natural can have consequences in the spiritual.
I have come to realise that not every confrontation is what it first appears to be, and not every battle is won by arguing harder or pushing further.
But we shouldn't see a demon behind every disagreement. People are not our enemy.
My concern is that we have become so comfortable responding to what we can see that we have neglected to discern what we cannot see.
We need to recover spiritual discernment, prayer, holiness and the courage to stand in the authority of Jesus Christ.
The enemy wants to distract us with "fighting" people while we neglect the real battle.
Be careful what you entertain, agree with, and allow to take root in your life.
Stand firm. Keep your eyes on Christ. And never forget that the battle is not merely flesh and blood. The Lord bless and keep us safe this evening.
