DAY ONE — GOD USES THE HIDDEN YEARS
Read: Exodus 2:11–25
Before Moses stood before Pharaoh, divided the Red Sea or led a nation, he spent many years in the wilderness.
He may have believed that the important part of his life was behind him. Raised in Pharaoh’s household, he had known influence and opportunity, but now he was looking after sheep in an unfamiliar land.
Yet the wilderness was not wasted.
God was removing Egypt from Moses before sending Moses back into Egypt. The hidden years were preparing the man who would carry God’s authority.
Many centuries later, Cuthbert also understood the importance of hiddenness. He served as a monk and bishop on Lindisfarne but also withdrew into solitude and prayer, seeking closeness with God before public recognition. His simple life became known for holiness, wisdom and service.
Perhaps you feel hidden, overlooked or forgotten. Do not despise this season. God often develops our roots before He reveals our fruit.
Northumberland still carries the footsteps of people who discovered that quiet prayer can prepare the ground for public transformation.
Action for today:
Spend fifteen minutes alone with God. Ask:
“Lord, what are You developing within me during this season?”
Write down whatever He brings to your heart.
Your wilderness may not be your destination. It may be your preparation.
