Seven Days with Moses — Lessons for Our Journey

Before Moses stood before Pharaoh, he spent years in the wilderness. Before he led a nation, he had to turn aside, hear God and respond to a calling that stretched far beyond his own confidence. His story speaks to those of us who have known hidden seasons, difficult assignments and moments when the next step seemed impossible.

I’ve brought together this seven-day teaching booklet from The Gathering to help us walk through those lessons prayerfully. Each day includes Scripture, reflection and a practical action, with connections to Northumberland’s Christian heritage through people such as Aidan, Cuthbert, Oswald and Bede. Their lives invite us to consider our own response to God today.

The journey takes us through hiddenness, listening, courage, freedom, advancing in faith, the Presence of God and preparing the next generation. Through it all runs a question that reaches into our homes, our communities and our calling: are we willing to follow where He leads?

Read slowly. Keep your Bible open. Give God room to search your heart and shape your response.

May we become people who carry His Presence, walk in obedience and leave others ready to continue the journey.

DAY SEVEN — FINISH WELL

Your Calling Is Bigger Than You

Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:1–8; 34:1–12

Moses had led Israel for forty years.

He had confronted Pharaoh.

Seen the Red Sea divide.

Received the Law.

Walked through the wilderness.

Interceded for a nation.

Experienced the glory of God.

But eventually his season came to an end.

And another name came forward.

Joshua.

One of the greatest acts of leadership Moses performed was preparing someone else to continue.

The work of God was never meant to end with Moses.

And neither does the work of God end with us.

Think of Northumberland.

Oswald.
Aidan.
Cuthbert.
Bede.

Different generations.

Different callings.

Different gifts.

But the flame passed on.

That is legacy.

Not making people remember our name.

But helping another generation know His Name.

We live in a culture obsessed with platforms, visibility and personal success.

The Kingdom asks another question:

Who are you preparing?

Who are you encouraging?

Who are you making room for?

Who will go further because you invested in them?

Moses climbed the mountain knowing Joshua would lead Israel forward.

The mission continued.

So must ours.

TODAY’S ACTION

Think of one person entering a new season.

Contact them.

Encourage them.

Pray for them.

Tell them what you see God developing in their life.

Give something away.

Wisdom.

Experience.

Prayer.

Encouragement.

Opportunity.

The goal is not simply to finish.

Finish well — and leave others ready to run.

Northumberland has known generations who carried the flame.

Now it is our turn.

And one day, if Jesus tarries, it will be someone else's.

Amen Amen.
